2.21.15 | Hush – Kula Shaker

Stand-out Lyric/s – Hush, hush…I thought I heard you’re calling my name now / Hush, hush…you broke my heart but that was a dream now

SO today, I was kinda in a daze. I was definitely hungover from a long night of partying with some of my new friends from work. I don’t remember drinking very much, but it’s been so long since I had done some drinking, that my body was not prepared. So work was a definite journey, and I had to be there all day.
I got a burst of energy though, when my friend, Liz, text me and some other friends about going to see Kingsman: The Secret Service. I was the only one who could go but I was definitely ready to get off work and go see it. My fiancé was out of town, visiting with his friends and I had nothing to do and was scared I was gonna be home all alone for the night.
After I got done a dismal day at work, I ran home, got changed and was off to the movie theatre. Liz was there and ready to go! The movie was great and I loved how it was shot and directed. I also loved the main guy in the movie but we’ll be quiet about that one! 😛 A lot of people told me it would be a little like Kick-Ass and I love Kick-Ass, but from seeing trailers, I didn’t really believe them. It was very similar though! I was glad and I can’t wait to see it again with my fiancé.
I thought of this song for the day because it was in a trailer for the movie and because it had my sense of urgency in the lyrics and fast pace that I had at work in the beat.

Kelly

2.19.15 | One Time – Marian Hill

Stand-out Lyric/s – I know I’ve got that sway that makes the boys all stay / I know the way that men can be / I like it smooth and slow / Give it some time to grow / That’s something you should know about me

I only worked in the morning today, and my fiancé, asked me to go to dinner with him and his mom after. So of course, I said yes. I never really get to go do anything with them because I’m always working so I jump at the chance when I get it.
When we got home, I was pretty discouraged because I hadn’t found a song for the day yet. Nothing really caught my attention or drew me in at all. Maybe I wasn’t really listening or maybe I was just excited at the events of the day that I let that feeling take over instead. Which isn’t a bad thing. Since I was feeling uninspired, I went to Spotify and picked a playlist I had never listened to before. (I do this a lot when I feel uninspired) Still nothing, UNTIL this song. The beat was upper catchy from the get-go and it pulled my body in. I started doing a really silly dance while sitting on my bed and had my fiancé giggling too. This song is pretty raunchy to be honest. Which I have no problem with, it’s a female who knows what she wants, and I can always support that! The beat reminded me of Royals by Lorde. That makes me think of my friend Shawna, who is freakin’ awesome! So this song, all around, gave me good vibes, and had me dancing. It beat anything else that went through the speakers today and I think I’ll really grow into it.
If you are stuck in a certain music genre or scene, I challenge you to go out of your box today and really look into other music and artists. You can always find something that will make you feel.. It’s not gonna happen in the first song that you try but you have to be patient.

Yours for the listening,
Kelly
